Based on an old thread: I have a new-in-box Dutra/Erson RV10-RDP. For $110 plus two-way postage, the cam shop can make a master so that newly-ground RV10-RDPs can be bought at will just by picking up the phone, without having to reinvent the wheel (cam) every time or settle for something "kinda close".

I can't toss $110+ at this on speculation, so this post is to see if there's interest in "crowdfunding" the cam master. Thirteen or fourteen people each chipping in ten dollars would probably cover the postage, mastering, and postage. There'd be payment fees (PayPal or credit card, etc) to factor in, so maybe 15 people.

Any interest in a community project of this nature?

Dan, I would be willing to chip in $10 for the cause!

I'm sure enough folks will ante up to make this happen but if they don't I pledge to contribute whatever is required to make up the difference.

One way or another, looks like this is going to happen—soon. Negotiations presently underway. Please stand by.

This is awesome! Unfortunately, I recently 'settled' for a similar cam :( . I think all of the paypal fees can be avoided if you 'gift' the money. There is no fraud protection for a gift though... but Dan seems trustworthy  .

I would suggest that Dan PMs all interested donors with his paypal address and people gift their donations. Dan could post updates regarding the balance, but I think $110 will be hit pretty quickly.

If this pans out, I might even be up for buying a cam!

Doctor Dodge once wrote:

"The RV10/295 RDP is designed for a 1bbl engine with factory compression ratios (8.4 to 9.0) and to have smooth idle with strong off idle and mid-range power.

The RV15/295 RDP needs a little more compression (9.0 to 9.5) and just moves the power a little higher up the rpm range. This cam should run a 2bbl carb minimum.

I think it would be worth it to try and reproduce both cams, if possible.

I agree, Reed, but what I have is an RV10-RDP. I do not have an RV15-RDP. If someone else does, the process and cost would be the same.

OK- no pressuring you to find one. Just throwing the suggestion out there in case someone had an RV 15 they would be willing to loan to "the cause."

The RV10-RDP camshaft remastering project has been funded and I'll be sending the cam in at the end of the week. I'll post an update as soon as there's one to post. Please keep hold of your chip-ins for when someone will come up with an RV15-RDP to be likewise remastered.

Yay! Thanks Dan and mystery donor(s)!

I might have missed it earlier in the thread, but is the cam going to be reproduced by an entity from which the general public may purchase a camshaft?
