Post subject: | Sourcing A-body door jamb switch |
While I have the interior of by duster torn apart I pulled my driver-side door jamb switch to discover its mostly destroyed. Its the 2-connector type, one of the connectors is gone, the other is almost gone, and making bad contact. These are the 1/2"-20 threaded switches. I can't seem to find a good source for these. All the autoshop stores return a smaller type used for the trunk switch. I found a thread on the FABO, but most links are now defunct or the part numbers have changed. I was advised to look at 80's chevy vans as they had a similar one. Does anyone have a good source for these? Quality used ones? If I can find them I'll change out the passenger side while im at it. |

You are on the right track with the Chevy van route- There seems to be an error in cross-reference books for Dodge... the one cited is too small, 3/8" @ 24 pitch... Try looking for a 1/2 inch, 20-pitch unit like the Airtex/Wells SW109 or 1S1086. They were used in, say, a 1985 Chevrolet G20 van. I used one in a '75 Dart last year. Rockauto.com will point you in the right direction, and there is a discount code in the vendor link here at SlantSix.org. |
