What is the current thinking on oil pumps? I've read several threads and I recently re-read the article on oil pumps (http://slantsix.org/articles/oil-pump-g ... report.htm.

If I want to buy an oil pump to stick on the shelf for a restoration at some point in the future, should I buy a Melling non-high performance unit? A big consideration is that it will probably be years before I actually use it so it needs to be a trusted unit.
