Post subject: | Early Small Temp Sender Question |
Greetings, so my '64 Valiant temp gauge barely moves off the left edge. I grounded the sender wire with the key switch on and the gauge casually pegs to the right. I used a laser temp gauge on the thermostat housing and read 185 F. I'm thinking a new sender. Any other ideas? Does anyone know a part number for a replacement sender? Thanks! Neil |

The early sender has larger thread (1/4"-27 dryseal) than the late sender (1/8"-27 dryseal), and your '64 does not use the early (up-to-'63) sender. It uses the later small-thread sender, Standard № TS-205. |

Thanks for clearing that up for me. My other convertible was a '63. Obviously I'm mis remembering the good old days. Thanks for the part #. Neil |
