I have tried searching but i cannot find the post where the problem with the modern five hole oil pump gasket was described and a possible modification discussed. My memory of the post I am looking for was the poster showed where the modern gasket fails on the five bolt pumps and showed how to modify the gasket or add RTV to get the gasket to seal and survive.

Am I imagining things or did such a post actually exist? Does anyone have it bookmarked?

Thanks.

Reed

That sounds familiar, so you're not imagining things.

That being said, I don't know where it is either.

Thanks Matt! There is a vanner over on www.vanning.com who just put a rebuilt slant into his van and it failed due to oil loss at the oil pump gasket. I am sharing this info with him so he can show it to the engine builder who is replacing the motor a second time.

That thread about the gasket should be made a sticky.
