Post subject: | Super Six Choke |
I was able to pull a complete super six set up from a Plymouth Volare today. Everything is in great condition except for the choke. These chokes also have the electric lead that I won't have on my 67 dart. Is there a good resource for new chokes for the super six and do they make just a mechanical choke or do I have to find a way to hook up the electric? Part numbers and sources would be great. Thanks! |

SlantsixDan is going to suggest the Carbsonly.com electric choke #1232 That's what I'm using...you'll need to tap into some switched power... |

I'll recommend it, too. I have installed it on two different vehicles and it works great. Far better than the original choke thermostat. That's what I'm using...you'll need to tap into some switched power... Incidentally, if you have a choke thermostat that has the wire, you need to hook up the wire or you will be wasting gas, polluting, and getting your oil dirtier than necessary since the choke will stay on too long. |

Thanks for the input. Didn't see a cost on the website, any idea of what the set-up runs? Everything is stock on my 67, any ideas of where to tap in for power? Is there supposed to be constant power when the key is on? Are there any benefits to this set up over a nos super six choke? |

I bought one of these last December. If I remember correctly, the cos including shipping was in the neighborhood of $45.Quote: Everything is stock on my 67, any ideas of where to tap in for power?
You could do like the factory did and tap into one of the alternator feed wires. All you need is a switched (+) lead and the alternator field wire fits the bill. When I installed this on my 76 D100, I used the (+) feed for the now missing EGR vacuum switch (the "hockey puck" that was mounted on the head that everybody removes).Quote: Is there supposed to be constant power when the key is on?
Yes.Quote: Are there any benefits to this set up over a nos super six choke?
Yes. (1) It is available new. (2) It works. (3) It is fully adjustable.
