Huh. I missed that the first time around. Still is interesting to read, though.

Engine is still running in Brian Droschak's '67 Dart (formerly Romeo's car). High 12s or low 13s at the strip.

Slant on,

Lou

I read that one before as well, but it's good enough to read again. I remember an old Hot Rod article back in high school about hopping up the old 4 cylinder Nova engine. All my buddies thought it was stupid, just throw in a V8. I was intrigued by making power from an inline back then, and I guess the intrigue never left. Those old friends still don't quite get it. I guess they never will. (Interesting side trivia, GM made those old Nova 4 cylinders from 1962 at least until 2013 and sold them as boat motors, kinda along the same story lines as the slant).

That motor also became the Pontiac Iron Duke. :D

The hot setup is take the crossflow Fiero head and adapt it to the larger (181-ish cubic inch) block. Has chevy smallblock crank flange and bellhousing.

Oh how I wish Mopar had made an OHC 4 cylinder version of the slant six with V8 bellhousing. Then the fabled aluminum headed OHC slant could be a reality.

Hyster used the 3.0 in lift trucks until about 2005 when they couldn't get them to pass EPA regs.

Cool! No better plae for it. But you need another belt on your AC compressor and that breather needs to get plumbed in somewhere.

I did take care of the breather.
that video is from 7 years ago, but I still use and drive it in this configuration.

The c-171 compressor does not work with a single pulley and a Clifford manifold.

To use it with the Clifford manifold I had to modify the mounting a bit then add a double groove v-8 pulley and run the single belt in the rear groove.
