Some places have TCR - Teen championship racing as well. I dont know the age, but you can research it. Parent drives car in pits and Student drives it from staging to track and races 1/8 mile in full size / full body car. usually a family sedan or truck etc. Greg |

From their website... Mason Dixon Dragway is a NHRA Member Track and will operate by NHRA requirements and specifications. • Your best source for the detailed safety, general guidelines and bracket racing requirements is the current NHRA Rule Book. • All drivers are required to have a valid GOVERNMENT / STATE drivers license (NO PERMITS). • Drivers 17 years old and younger must have a Minor Release and Waiver of Liability Form signed by both legal guardians (forms are available at the track). • Drivers and crew members must sign release waiver before entering restricted areas. http://www.masondixondragway.com/ |

To race at NHRA member tracks, a valid driver's license is required. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have parental permission to compete. Here are last years rules from Woodburn Dragstrip. Other facilities are likely similar, if not identical: DRIVERS — All drivers are required to have a valid driver’s license. All drivers under the age of 18 must have a parent permission form on file which is signed by both parents prior to passing tech inspection. RESTRICTED ACCESS — Drivers and crew must sign the Release & Waiver of Liability at each event. .... Parents must sign a Minor Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement for any minor under the age of 18. Minor Waivers are available in the Timing Tower Hope that helps! CJ |

Dan, I am not 100% sure about the age but I know Mason Dixon had a time during one of the Test & Tunes or maybe even on a regular race day that they allowed drivers under 16 to do as Greg said. They could drive from the staging lanes, learn how to stage the car at the lights, and then make an 1/8 mile run with their dad in the car. This was to encourage the next generation of racers to get excited about drag racing. I think they had to be 15. Rick |

You could just E-mail Mason Dixon from their web site and ask them your specific question. Hope you can come and race with us too! |
