Post subject:  Sticking caliper

This may seem old hat to the old hands here, but... :)
The front brake caliper is sticking. I'm pretty sure its the caliper itself, since, it was smoking when I pulled the old girl('79 D100) back in the yard from her last trip.
When I pulled the wheel off, it looked like it had burned the rotor. So I whacked the caliper lightly with the lug wrench and it released the rotor... applied brakes, and it locked down again.
Unless there's something I missed... I'm planning on flushing out the old brake fluid when I replace the caliper.
My question... (tada, spit it out already...)
I'm planning on trying Rockauto.com and there are a lot of re-manufacturers, and I just wanted to ask, if anybody here has any advice on good/bad/ugly/ providers...

(I'm a blacksmith, not a mechanic, so be nice...) :)

Most likely the caliper, especially if it is original. There was a period where a sticking caliper was common, especially if it had the 'plastic' piston (composite really). When we sold replacement calipers, we always made certain they had steel pistons. That being said, steel pistons can stick when they are old, due to corrosion and dirt. Today, these parts are not generally expensive. If it were me, I would replace the caliper, rotor, and pads. If the brake hose looked old and cracked, I would replace it as well.
It's only brakes, how often do you use those? :)

Dodge had a recall on those calipers way back when, for that very reason. Apparently your truck is like mine and had the offending calipers. I changed mine and it hasn't happened since, and that's been 16 years. It was a design flaw that affected some of the trucks but not all.
