Looks like the rivit thing failed, so I tapped (6-32) and screwed the piece that creates friction on the ball.

How can I fix a "sloppy mirror" head on my twin post mirror? |

Some of the early mirrors had a stainless or spring steel ring to capture the round mirrored glass in the frame. But I can't remember what you'll find inside if you pop the glass out. I may have one .... But I have to dig. Neil |
