My original vibration damper bit the dust tonight. The outer ring is completely separated from the inner ring.

Questions:

(1) Recommendations for a source for replacement? Damper Dudes? What about THIS truck damper on eBay? My vehicle is a 76 truck, so that eBay damper should work for me, right?

(2) I am contemplating upgrading to a factory 120 amp alternator. The 120 amp alt has two pulley sheaves. The 120 amp alternators I have seen on V-8 applications all used double alt belts. If I upgrade to the 120 amp alternator on the slant in my truck will I have to run a double pulley on the water pump? Any suggestionson how the belts run on a slant with a 120 amp alternator?

Thanks!

When are you going to have a 120 amp load?

I'd think you'd only need 2 belts if your alternator was putting out a bunch of amps. Otherwise the load on the belts is going to be what it is now.....

Thanks! This truck was built in June of 76, so I really don't know if it is a cast or forged crank. It is definitely an automatic, though. I appreciate the info!

I've used those on a variety of engines, all with automatic transmissions. They work well. Price is nice and seller is reliable. Pounce on it.

No. Slant-6 applications did not use double alternator belts, just V8s.

Dang, thanks Mat! And thanks to Craig for posting that info! Good stuff. Since my truck was buit in June of 76, I have no idea if it is a cast or forged crank. However, since I am running an automatic it doesn't matter. Yay.

Cast crank blocks are easy to tell. They lack the large casting numbers of the earlier blocks.
