I've got the 64 slant in the 67 Dart timing is dead center on the tab starts good runs good yet when I shut it off I still get detonation any ideas I'm running a 2 barrel with a Carter BBD motor was rebuilt prior to me getting it so I'm not sure if the cam that's in it any help is greatly appreciated

Maybe pinging is the wrong word, it wants to run a bit when I shut it off. Timing might be off as I don't know what kind of cam was put in. Runs strong and no noise while driving. I was thinking maybe low octane? Only issue is when I shut down.

It's call run-on or dieseling. Real common with retarded timing and a hot engine.
