What are your power outputs with your Slant 6s? please post!!! Naturally Aspirated:: Single Turbo: Nitrous:: I was totally going to ditch my Slant 6 until i found out how rare it was, now with this forum and seemingly endless power options, I am likely to keep it and enjoy it. My First car was a 64 dodge dart slant 6! My current car is a 1969 Dodge Charger 3 speed manual with Slant 6! |

My 225 is now a 231, thanks to a .045" overbore. It hs a single 66mm turbo, water/methanol injection, is carbureted (650 Holley) and is intercooled with an air-to-air intercooler. I have an RJC boost controlller set on 15 pounds of boost. It makes, according to the Wallace onine calculator, based on its 3,000-pound weight (driver-included) and its 7.60 eighth-mile e.t., approximately 360 horsepower. It has a pitifully-slow, 60-foot time of 1.91 and a terminal velocity of 91.5 mph. I plan on a nitrous boost to the turbo for a quicker spool and 20 pounds of boost, so, if I don't blow it up, beforehand, it shoulld go somewhat faster, soon. Pray for the bottom end... Bill |

How much boost does it have when you leave the starting line? |

That is the problem; about 3-4 pounds... not nearly enough. So. after talking to Nick Stamm about the N20 system he used to spool his turbo, I ordered an NEX system from Summit and will try to use that to spool my turbo with a 1-second (or, less) blast upon launch. The solenoid has a timer that is adjustable in one-tenth-of-a-second increments, up to one second, so it's going to be a learning curve starting at about a half-second shot and working up from there... Nick said it took only a half-second to get the turbo spooled to 15 pounds, which is about what I think I'll need. This is all "cut and try" technology," so, it will be interesting, for sure... Thanks for your interest! Bill, in Conway, Arkansas... |

If you talk to Nick again, tell him to stop in sometime! To the site that is! |

Rick, Nick was VERY helpful and forthcoming with information, and offered insights and advice that proved invaluable to me in making my choices for this project. He was the information guru I really needed, because he had done exactly the same thing I was attempting, and his advice saved me tons of time and probably some money, too. Busy as he was/is, he never hurried me in my quest for the finer points of this rather complicated endeavor. Kudos to that guy for providing all the facts and advice I needed to buy exactly what I should buy. I'll tell him that he needs to drop in and say "HI," but he apparently runs an auto repair facility and has four kids, so, I'd imagine we'll be lucky if he makes an appearance, here... lol! Bill |

Yep, Nick is an uber cool guy. Been to his house/shop - nice. I am wondering about trying a 50 HP shot to spool my turbo now too... It would seem this would use very little N2O and you could make many hits w/o running the bottle down. Lou |

Dart 270, Here are the summit part numbers I ordered: NEX-20421-10 Nitrous Express system, 35-50-75-100-125-150 hp EDL-72176 Edelbrock purge system ARC-1402 time-delay 40-amp relay .1-sec. adustable to 1 full second system activator All Summit part numbers and all were shipped immediately. Not cheap, but cheaper than the alternative (new converter or new turbo.) Hope this helps... Bill |

Dart270, the phone number (tech) for Nitrous Express is: (940) 767-7694.I am wondering about trying a 50 HP shot to spool my turbo now too... It would seem this would use very little N2O and you could make many hits w/o running the bottle down. Lou Call them with any questions; the tech I talked to was very helpful. Summit has a promotion going on; the will GIVE you a bottle pressure gauge worth $31.00 if you order this system. Anyway, it did me... Bill |

Thanks for the info, Bill! I bet 35-50 HP shot for 0.5-1 sec would get things moving in my case. Maybe 50-100 shots on one bottle? Might fall into my definition of "streetable". Lou |

Yes I have a friend who sells new tire! Sounds like you will needs some. Do you want me to send him your number!! I have a brand new set of 9"-wide, 28"-tall Mickey Thompson slicks... It may take me a while to wear those out.... This thing has a 2.76:1 ring and pinion and a spool.... Wheelspin shouldn't be a problem, but, time will tell.... Bill |
