hi I just picked this Slant six up. I'm pretty sure it's a 225 but not really sure on much of anything else. it has a casting number on it but not one I can find any record of. I was told it was possibly out of a 60 station wagon. there is only a small pad on the right side of the block with the numbers 94 stamped on it, no TT22 or so on. it only has three freeze plugs which causes me to believe it's an early slant six. it's the taller block too so I know it's not a 170. casting number on the block is 2128418-1 the head casting is 2121476-2 any help on finding out what exactly this is would be appreciated thanks[/img] |

2128418 is a first-year (1960) RG (225) engine block. You should find an engine stamping number behind the water pump. There are going to be little differences here and there—the '60 blocks and heads weren't set up to accept the '61 and later passenger-side alternator or generator mounts, for example—and inside the engine, too (pre-'63 engines have the connecting rod oil squirt holes facing away from the camshaft). Head casting 2121476 is also '60; be advised that unlike the '63-'74 heads, you do keep the metal ring washers on the spark plugs when you install them. |
