74-76 Darts- Wipers won't "park", difficult to turn off. Went to my spares, R&R'd the bad one with a 76 Aspen motor/trans assembly, worked OK. Opened the failed transmission cover to find a broken hairspring and several chunks of broken plastic from the cams on the big gear. Checked another "bad" spare motor assembly and found the same conditions inside. Have others seen the same issues? Any known fixes? It seems to me that once the plastic gear/cams break, the unit might be beyond repair due to parts un-available? New assemblies seem to run about $65. :?:

Didn't know these wiper motors went bad...my 73' still works fine....you gotta cut the power to the wipers when they're parked (bottom of windshield) because if you turn the wiper motor off during mid stroke then the wipers freeze half way across your windshield. Not sure how you can confuse theme with "modern" or more recent wipers... the all work the same.
If they're difficult to turn off, it could because the wiper arm pivots are bad; needs replacement and greased.
