Hi. I'm gonna start to build a new engine for my -80 Aspen and would like to get 450-500hp. Any help I can get would be nice. I will use a roots supercharger e85. Thanks. |

Welcome! At the boost required to make 450hp you're better off with a turbocharger or a screw compressor than a Roots blower. While there are some very fast carbureted turbo cars many (most?) use alcohol injection as a supplemental fuel and detonation suppressant. EFI I feel is a good choice as it gives a lot more control over fuel and ignition which helps keep pistons and head gaskets healthy. I highly recommend spending some time in the boost and nitrous section and reading about head gaskets, o-rings and head studs. |

You may want to give serious consideration to beefing up brakes and suspension with that kind of power. |

Being conservative? Only 450-500 HP? |

In all honesty, there really isn't much difference between blocks. What blower are you going to use? Member terry littlejohn is using a 6-71 and can probably be a lot of help to you. |

...is this a strip car or a street car? 450+ hp from a slant is awesome. If a strip car, people will be impressed (as they should), but if a street car, people will be in awe, jaw-dropping power from an I6....love it. |

Terry might be using a 4-71. Seymour had a buddy with a 4-71 back in the late '90s. IIRC, it made well over 400 back then. |

The Slant 6 seems to respond very well to boost. We hope your project goes very well! There are a few other cars in Scandinavia (Finland included) on this site. Lou |
