Hey Dan you said to pull the 12v power for the electric choke kit from the upstream of the ballast resistor...should I continue to look at this as catching some fish after the ballast resistor from the Battery? I mean Salmon and electrical currents (A.C.) are very similar when it comes to spawning. Thanks, |

Electric eels maybe? I found when wiring up an electric choke on my Holley 390 that when feed from the fresh 12v waters upstream from ballast resistor it created a parallel resistance that dropped voltage to coil that effected idle. My solution was to power choke directly from stud on starter relay via a relay triggered from "up stream" 12v tap above ballast resistor. The current to power the relay's electromagnet is very low and won't upset design voltage to coil, and is only active when ignition is in run position. |

Just food for thought, the electric choke heater on my '76 is wired to one of the "legs" of the voltage regulator between the EVR and the alternator.... I still use this plug on my Holley electric choke, and have not had a problem with it. |

Did I? Maybe. Even better: follow the instructions that come with the kit. They have you reusing the wire that went to the car's original choke thermostat modulator, just like DusterIdjit says.

The factory tapped one of the alternator feed wires to provide power to the ecletric choke. you can do the same even if your vehicle did not come with a factory electrically assisted choke thermostat. |

Right, just make sure it's the correct alternator field wire (B+ voltage with key on). |
