Post subject:  Dennis....Are you secretly related to my dad?

Whenever I say something like Justin's engine buildup stuff, He always tells me that "a certain Aerosmith song comes to mind"..... :o :o   :o

Freaky..........

And Justin, just out of curiosity, if you're trying to build a really fast street machine, why not start with an early A-body?

Have i missed anything here? just want to be sure.
Reworked oil pump with a hardened drive gear and extensive block prep work.
Make sure you have the con rods reconditioned and use new rod bolts.

ARP head studs would be good if you plan to run 12 to 1 compression.
Cam selection will "make or break" the success of this combination.

Maybe the Areosmith one with "jammie has a gun". As long as he doesn't point it at his foot he should be OK.

Doc,
thanks for the tip, oh by the way i got the money for a harden'd gear sent out today :)

What should i do to the oil pump?? The block passed the magnaflux test and its all cleaned up now, and ready to go, what camshaft would you reccomend? I'll be using Ford 300 valves simply because i think i cannot fit anything bigger in there :(

Thanks again!

Sorry Tim, not really interested in a Damper right at the moment... i've got a factory one and it'll do the trick :)

Hey Possum, well i dont have the truck anymore, sold it in mid summer, but i have the block for the above combo pretty much complete but no use for it, its machined with the crank and rods with pistons in it. its sitting in a big ol plastic bag coated in grease and oil. dont know if i'll use it anymore or not. i'm leaning towards something alittle less wild. especially for that nice big blue bottle sitting on the shelf waiting to go on in spring

As for Bagel, ppffft, hes gotta get his new motor together! lol, i'll be afraid of him if he gets the duster finished tho  if he dont go to a VEEEE-8 first tho

lookin forward to racing at ClayCity this comming year!!

Hey Justin, a little off topic but, where are you getting your machine work done?? Are the prices reasonable? And have you found (or looked for)anyone in town who does hot tanking?

Hey!

well i got the Block done at Kens Kustom Machining in wpg, he is just simply the best in the business around these parts. his prices are decent also. for my cylender head i was very pleased with the work Perry's Maching shop did, they're prices are decent, and he knows slantsix's alittle.

I'll PM you with price's and stuff if you like.

Justin
