Post subject:  wiper green wire

I had a bundle of wires going through the firewall, but since my engine is out for its rebuild, I (finally) installed my firewall connector block. I carefully did one wire at a time, installing new Packard connectors.

Ok all done, but I found one green wire running to nowhere. I traced it back to my wiper switch, a plug having a red wire (running to the wiper motor) but the green wire runs to nowhere. Is that a ground? The wiper motor has a brown, a red and a blue wire running to it. I don't see a green wire emanating from the wiper motor.

Mine is a '67 dart, but this doesn't appear to be the original switch, it is a variable speed wiper switch., I don't think my Dart 270 came with a variable speed wiper switch.

I have a '69 FSM, it shows the same wire colors coming from the switch, but the pigtail at the wiper motor is different configuration than mine. It appears to correspond to a V5-18DGN, but I can't make heads nor tails of the wiring diagram past that.

Does anyone know where the green wire from a variable speed wiper switch goes? My wipers have always worked. This wire doesn't appear to have been connected for some time as the insulation is pulled past the wire end.

Dan?

It's the green wire in the lower middle of this photo.

This color coded one is easier for me. It shows the green wire going to the wiper motor. I'll have to pull the tape off the motor's pigtail, maybe that green wire is hidden/broken inside there somewhere. Thanks all.

If it's been working as expected.....

Post subject:  working

So, I did some further research. My wiper motor is a two speed, only has three wires, no green wire. My switch is a variable speed switch. So, although there is a mismatch there, the wipers work. The green wire is superfluous for this wiper motor. The good news is, if I ever get a 3 speed or variable motor, I already have the switch.
