Has anyone run a Saginaw pump in their early A? I have a Sag pump and brackets, originally I believe from a Dodge truck. Unfortunately the bracket puts the pump too far down and it hits the inner frame rail, so I can't install it.

I'm wondering if the all put the pump in the same position or if I can find another engine bracket to move it up.

In case anyone else runs into this - there is a truck bracket and a car bracket from the engine to the pump. The front and rear pump brackets are the same. The truck bracket puts the pump about an inch down from the car bracket and it won't fit, at least in an early A-body.

That's really helpful for me, actually. I'm trying to do the same thing as you, but I don't have the brackets. I thought I had brackets, but it turns out they're for a small block. I'll keep an eye out for car brackets. Thanks for saving me some serious trouble. Glad you were able to make your work.

How early is your early A? 1965 was the first year some A-bodies came with Saginaw pumps. The bracketry mounts the pump extra-close to the engine; '67-up bracketry puts the pump further away which is fine in those wider cars but makes fit problems in the earlier cars (battery tray). I don't know that the '65-'66 Saginaw bracketry would mount a pump satisfactorily in a '60-'62 car; I doubt it.

Those are good points, Dan. I'm not worried about the battery on my 64 because it's in the back anyway. Curious about the OP's car, because it sounds like he made it work.
