Ok guru's I need a hand. When reassembling a slant cylinder head is there any trick, or has anyone create a fixture to hold the head at a good angle so you can access it with a valve spring compressor (c-clamp style)? I am struggling, and figure there has to be a better way/trick to it |

I haven't tried a slant head yet, but at the shop i worked at had a few home made stands for heads. they were made from old pushrods and pieces of angle iron. they looked sorta like this: they had more angle on the posts and they had a washer to hold the head up at height |

This is what I did with some scrap wood. Works great for removing valve springs. ![]() |

I have a few home-made stands but to be honest, many times I just stand the head on it's end, to remove / install the valve springs. ( there are a couple of machined flats on the back-end so the head stands-up straight when on a hard & flat surface) DD |

Same thing with the 2x4s, but I just use'em loose, as cribbing. I keep a supply of'em, for a variety of cribbing uses. |

I was becoming frustrated, but have tried standing it on end, and it seems to be the handiest. Thanks guys |
