Hey guys, I got a holley 7508-1 2 barrel holley carb. Anyone have any information on this carb? I'd like to use it for a blow through turbo build. |

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ight=75081 That's an economaster smog replacement carb for late70's early 80's Ford vehicles... Per Reed's old post above almost a decade past... it is not like the 7448/4412 carbs that are typical calibration... 7508 is already calibrated at the factory for the application and uses the reverse idle screws not to adjust the amount of fuel in the idle/transition circuit, but adjusts the amount of air fuel mix you provide in the circuit... this is not good for any performance use (would work fine on your 1983- 302-2v mustang that has to pass smog....) To return it to normal calibration you will have to rob parts off a 7448, an do a bunch of modifications to get the correct passages drilled and plug others to make it work right... The Carb Reed had in the pic...he sold to me... I rebuilt it, re jetted, and changed a couple other things and it ran fine on my 9.66:1 cast crank motor that is serving as a pusher motor for the FDX project... I would probably not use this in traffic without a lot of tuning and road testing on an NA mild build slant.... Make sure you get the Holley books from Emmanuel and Urich before buying and modifying a holley.... Truthfully, one day I'd like to transplant the wagon wheel boosters into a 7448 and test on a mild build 225 for economy and see what happens... |
