i bought an electric gauge, which has a fitting that screws right into the stock sender in the head. very easy to hook up and the gauge is easy to read at a quick glance. the price is right for $21.00 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/EQU-7262 |

What should the water temperature be at 'normal' running condition? |

Temp. reading should be close to the thermostat's rated temperature. (with-in 5 degrees or so) This is with the temp gauge sending unit installed in the cylinder head, near the thermostat.. Example: My Dacuda, with a mechanical gauge & a 185 thermostat reads 185 to 190 on the gauge when running down the highway. DD |

wow dougmo- you still have the dacuda. remember it from the old slant 6 news mag. geez that must have been back in the early 80s. remember it had dart fenders on a barracuda body and was black. is it still running everyday? must be on its 3d engine. kudos to you. still looking for an f body wagon or four door with a six and a stick. they have disappeared off the face of the earth. might have to try hersheys big show and swap or the one here in florida at daytona. my old 77 rusted to hell and no welder would touch it. remember you answering many questions about it. best car i ever had. almost 30 years. curious has the w gotten sassy about too many junk cars in the driveway. its inevitable you know. i know. still remember your article about her kar-in right? are we becoming old fuds? bob f |

I went a different route also suggested on this site! It works amazingly well. Tap out the original temp sensor location and install a (AutoMeter) Mechanical gauge! |
