The stock shifter used for a duster or dart should clear your bench, 70's style. I had a Feather Duster with a bench and it was a Hurst. Cleared the bench no problem. |

I had the factory 4 speed that came out of a 64-65 Dart GT and it had a Hurst shifter handle that cleared the bench seat in my Valiant, |

reason I ask this is that 62 Lancer is a different animal?? front floorpan wise? than the later A bodies... no floorshifts from factory on the 62,9 ALL 3 ON TREE),, the 60-1 valiants had a very different shifter/setup than later A's I am told... |

I thought some of the toads had a factory floor shift? A 3 speed though. |

this is what I am told. the 60-1 could have 3 speed floor shift, shifted poor, then only 3 on tree for 62. the floor shift in 60-1 was odd ball unit, worked POOR. I will change to A833OD unit behind the slant. |

the 62 floor is really similar to the vast majority of a bodies. You will need the 4 speed tunnel added to your floorboard. |

I'm not sure about the Valiants, but 62 Dodges are B-Bodies. |

the 61-2 Lancer is a Dodge A body, like the 60-2 Valiant. I have several a body humps, it will have to be fabricated to fit. funny part is the 62 B body cars are pretty sought after, and have ( to me) the same design bodywise as the Lancer/Valiant. which are NOT sought after!!! |

I agree with hyper_pak post. I have a 62 toad and 66 2 dr post that was a manual 3 speed that I put a 4 sp in with a bench. No problems with clearances. The transmission tunnels appear to be the same on both models. |

And a 61 Lancer is very different from a 62 Lancer. The front horns, cowl, floorboards, wiring, etc. Very different. |

I have always had (since mid 80's) at least 2 mopars and usually of the same/similar models. I sold all cars but the 62 Lancer before my move to Tx. back in Nov... I admit I will be lookin for another 61-2 Lancer or 60-2 Valiant for a second project. th good part is they are so cheap but th bad part is their scarcness ha I do enjoy learning about them, as I have had and learned about all the othr model Mpoars over th last 30 yrs. bad part is I forgot half what I learned!! ha |
