The way I see it, I would rather race in a 19 second "dial-in" bracket then say.....watch one!

Hey, Gunpilot.......look at it this way.

A) You get to leave first
B) Your opponent has to sit there stewing, while your tail lights get smaller.
C) Meanwhile, his tires/slicks are cooling down. 8)
D) Any water on his tires is pooling at the contact patch. :o
E) If it's a hi-po auto trans car, his engine is loading up.
F) He might get antsy and red-light for you.
G) He might keep his foot in it a touch too long and break-out. :(

See how many advantages you have with a slow car? :D

When I raced my Dart twenty years ago, (with a 98K slant), I made it into the semi's quite a bit on those little things, so try not to knock it too much.

Roger, (Yep, visiting from Colorado) :D

Hey GunPilot i won the slant/six championship in 2000 with a 17 second car it can be done. But don't count on it happing now. Too many cars with delay boxes transbrakes and who knows what. I was the last footbrake racer that did that and i am proud of that. Dump that vacum carb and get the 390cfm double pumper holley race carb it will lite up your car. got one done that . Later dude Possum Parker

im going to bag a bagel and toast it

If you got it, run it....
How big is that Holley?
With the vacuum secondary, the engine will only open the carb to the CFM level it needs so my guess is that this carb will never get fully open. :(

It's a Holley 4175 (625 CFM Spreadbore.)

Now don't get voiciferous on me, guys. I was only kidding. But it would be nice to beat the kid in the Civic that misses three or four shifts, and still gets thru the lights ahead of me.

So you're saying that the year he won the Slant Championship AND the Sportsman Classic championship he was cheating in Sportsman?

Hay Bagel i did not say it could not be done were trying hard to do it this year But the way they index some of the races a middle of the pack car has to run the no1 or two quaifyer in the firs round. As for as Gordie The car had a air activated throtle stop on the carb i saw it and so did several people. Wheather he used it or not i don't know but the rules in the classic are plain about this. That type of device cannot be in or on the car read the rules working or not. We saw the bottle and stop on the carb in the car. Thats fine for slant six but not for sportsman Maybee Gordie can explain what that device was i did not ask him. thanks Possum Parker

gone bagel bagging back faster than bagel

He was using it as a launch RPM controller, and as such, it was legal in Sportsman. It would have been illegal if it was hooked to a box or if he was using it as a stop down-track.

Possum, you know my views match yours on the pairings and such. You also know that nothing is ever going to be done to take any advantage away from the fast guys and make the playing field level. :(

Yea bagel we know but read the rules in the clascics rule guide. No electronics no delay boxes no throtle stops are allowed in or on the car that is real plain. Unless im missing something that means it cannot be in the car or on the car you read the rule book for the clascic events the do not call no audugles. this is not a rules interpation i take it as it says. The only thing allowed is line locks . read the rules. talk to me Possum

I know the last time I ran Sportsman I had a 2-step and it was considered legal because it was not hooked to a trans brake. I figured that his air stop was considered the same because it was used on the starting line and not down track.
