This is how it's running right now.

It's able to run under it's own power but the terrible walmart brand battery needs a jump every time it has to start cold.

My question is, any time it gets under load it wants to stall.
The engine was warm enough to cycle coolant but when i put it in gear and try to move the car it'll try to stall.
It's an automatic but the only way to get it moving is doing a "clutch maneuver" and lift off the brake while giving it gas.
Granted it does have a flat tire.

It's a BBD from a 318, could it be running too rich or is it just from a transmission that hasn't moved in 20 years do you think?

Sounds like the engine needs a valve adjustment and looks like it might have one of those "100% NEW!!!!!!!!!" Chinese knockoff carburetors on it.

Baby steps for now. I need to read up on how to lash valves, also it's a straight pipe so it makes some funky sounds.

You're right about the carb. It just needs to run well enough to move around the yard for mowing grass while i work on trying to get the car in a passable state.
It was even delivered with white teflon tape sealing the fuel fitting to the carb, which dissolved in about 20 minutes of use.

About the choke...well there is none. I'm not sure what all i need for it to function right.

Do i need a thermostat and pull-off? Or is something more needed?
It would be nice to not have to jump the car while spraying starting fluid down the carb (i had a nice flame going today)
I have the fast idle screw in a position where it's obviously idling fast.

It's already got a choke pull-off. Get a № 1232 Electric choke kit and install per directions provided. You may need to fabricate a new choke pushrod (from the choke thermostat to the carb) because that's a V8 carb rather than a Slant-6 type.
