Post subject:  Time for a Clay City Roll Call

Okay,
Time for a Clay City Roll Call. Anyone heading up from Georgia that's been there before want to convoy on Friday? I was sure glad I followed Ron Parker to Bristol. MapQuest had me going a completely different route that was quite a bit longer.
Also, how are the facilities at Clay City? I'm planning on just sleeping in the tow vehicle again unless some of the youth group wind up coming. Is there camping, showers, etc? Thanks.

I'm planning on being there. Camping at track, but no facilities. Bristol is the only track I have been to, that has showers available.

Post subject:  Hey Charrlie

Hmmm, Sounds like I'd better remember the baby wipes. Is Clay City anything like Reynolds where you can pitch a tent by your car or is it tow vehicle only? What time are you planning on arriving at the track? What's the latest with your car(s)? Thanks.

It is like Reynolds. Haven't done anything with the car yet. Going to start reinstalling the turbo this week. If I can get it sorted out I'll leave it on for CC. If not , I'll go back to nitrous. I plan on getting there mid day on Fri.

Rob if you can do it i could meet you at the same place we left from and pull up together. I will probally leave there about 9 am its about 6 hours from there to the track. Thats a good time to arrive go through tech and do test and tune. I think they have a bonus race on friday night ie gamblers race. I dont know where Charlie will be at that time but maybe he could pull up to. PS if you have never been to Clay City you need to follow some one the track is a little hard to find. Heck Clay City is a little hard to find but we love the track and it is the place to be. Thanks Ron Possum Parker :D :D Ps the Gary Bruner engine is going to be in the car for Clay City

hey bagel the price of possum is going up

Sounds Great Ron.
I'm not sure yet if I'll be coming solo or with company. Whomever comes with me shouldn't have to take as many "pottie breaks" as Chase did :D
I'll be there at 0900 ready to roll. I emailed the track and they said I could pitch a tent and barbecue. They also said they are working on building a shower house. They seem like some real nice people.
Will you have much test & tune time at Paradise with your new engine before Clay City? What am I saying? You've probably already raced the new engine several times, huh?
I haven't done much at all with the Duster yet. I needed to take a little break from the car stuff for awhile. I'll start sneaking out there and fiddling a little to get ready for Clay City though. My wife has even been tolerant of it sitting in the driveway so far :o
Looking forward to it!

Are you and Bob S. going to make it this year?

I talked to Bob and he is not going to Clay City this year. He has a conflict with that event date so he is pushing to go to Milan in August.

I am still looking at getting out there for the race but I need to work-out a bunch of details like where to stay and how to get to and from the airport.

I hope you get it all worked out. I was looking forward to discussing the American Clipper deal with Bob. Next time you talk to him tell him I am sending him a letter.

If you need any help with arrangements let us know.

Post subject:  Backing out

 It breaks my heart to say this, but I'm not going to make it to Clay City after all. The checkbook is a little (lot) too thin to justify the trip and I discovered a puddle on the hood of my Dart in the garage. I need to fix the ceiling, floor and the dad-blasted toilet wax ring that obviously wasn't doing its job. :x
On the bright side, I've got about 7 of the youth group kids coming over tonight to work on the Duster and Turismo projects. Might as well go ahead and tear into the four barrel/header install I guess. Maybe we'll head out to the local dragstrip tomorrow night or Saturday.
You all have a great time for me. I know Clay City is the one to go to if you can. I'll try to make Wilkesboro August 23rd.
