I am getting ready to narrow my 8 3/4 rear end for my 69 Valiant.

I was wondering about advice on what folks think I should narrow it to, drum to drum? I know stock is 57 1/8 with spring perches 43" center to center, but wonder if there are suggestions to narrow it a bit more?

The car has stock wheel wells for now, and likely always will. It is intended to be a weekend driver with the odd trip to a 1/4.

Thanks for suggestions

I would skip narrowing the 8 3/4 and put my energies and resources towards swapping in an Explorer/Ranger rear axle. If you are keeping the 8 3/4, then I would make it as close to a stock A body 8 3/4 as possible.

I have a '69 B-body 8 3/4 rear end under my '76 Duster. I just moved the perches in some to make it fit. It is a little wider than the A-body spec and it moves the wheels outward some. I think it looks better than the narrower A-body width. Just my 2 cents.

If you're not going to mini tub it I would not go any narrower than stock. The inner wheelhouses get real close anyway.
