swapping out the 7 1/4 for an 8 3/4, getting it narrowed now, axles and break rebuild kit on the way from Dr. Diff

while at it I am looking to install a new set of leaf springs

69 valiant /6, gears are 3.23 sure grip, will likely lower the gears in future

what leaf springs do folks recommend for a weekend/daily driver

espo? mancini http://www.manciniracing.com/maaexhedules1.html ? or one of the numerous other vendors?

espo is something like $360 for a six leaf spring, mancini $235

just want a decent ride down the road, thru the corners, and be enough overkill for now that if I decide to seriously upgrade the engine later that I will have things covered

thanks,
austin

I advise getting a 5 leaf spring. 6 is really overkill and will make your car loose/twitchy and give a hard ride. It will not handle better. Espo should be less for 5 leafs and I have heard good things but never used them. If you want an upgrade, then I believe the Hotchkis "geometry corrected" (slightly lowered and a stiffer but not too much) would be good. More expensive...

Just thought I would drop a follow up line.

I ordered a set of springs from Mancini Racing. Springs and related hardware seem just fine at this point but the customer service from Mancini Racing is somewhat skeptical.

I ordered a set of rear shackles, http://www.manciniracing.com/maraboshset.html $34.95

I received a set of rear shackles looking identical but was charged $59.95 .

Called them to inquire, and they told me that that part was no longer available. I informed them it is on their internet site for sale and that is what I had asked for and I was told these were poly eurothane .

Pretty much got the oh well sort of response, although the man did not say that specifically.

when ordering parts in future, will likely try elsewhere first.
