| Post subject: | Holset wastegate conversion |
Hello, I purchased a used Holset hx35. Is currently internally wastegated, and i would like to convert it to external wastegate for better control. One of two ways to achieve this; i can change the exhaust housing to eliminate the internal, or purchase a block off plate to accomplish the same thing. I am not sure exactly how the other components will attach (wastegate and exhaust pipe). $135 for the housing, or $35 for the block off plate. Any thoughts? |

Unless this is a competitive race application (and I can tell it's not because you're not using a $2500 ball bearing turbo) I would save the money and use the internal wastegate with a lower pressure actuator. |

Thanks, Appreciate to speedy reply. Will search for what you suggest. Hoping to find something starting with 5 psi, that i might creep up to 10 plus psi. Russ |

I got a nice adjustable waste gate actuator from Kinugawa It fits nice on the Holset - half way down this page: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... c&start=75

hx35 is a lot of turbo for that little bit of boost. you could go much smaller and make i more responsive and still push what you are looking for. i doubt the hx is in its efficiency range at that low flow. |
