LAST FALL AFTER THE LOCAL CAR SHOWS I PARKED OUR 1973 PLYMOUTH DUSTER WITH A 198 SLANT SIX IN THE GARAGE FOR THE WINTER.EVERY NOW AND THEN I WOULD START HER UP AND LET HER RUN FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR BEFORE PUTTING HER BACK IN AGAIN. I WENT TO START HER UP THIS SPRING AND SHE TURNED OVER BUT WOULD NOT START. CHECKED IF GETTING FUEL AND- POSSITIVE. ANY IDEAS? |

although not a probable reason for the current no start, but you are doing more harm than good doing what you are,,,,put the vehicle away right,, * run the gas out or add a fuel stabilizer * have a fresh or recent oil change * remove the sparkplugs, add a teaspoon or so of light oil to each cylinder, re install the plugs and spin the motor briefly with the coil wire disconnected at the coil. * verify antifreeze quality * disconnect the battery and let it sit,,this will get you through the winter just fine. Idling the motor for half an hour or so does not really warm it up,, it takes driving under load to really warm a motor. Those cold starts with the choke operating is giving a rich fuel mixture that washes the cylinder walls and contaminates the oil. Starting the motor without really going anywhere is never a good idea, most bearing-bore wear occurs during start up prior to the engine lube coming to required pressure and circulation |

check the fuel,,, fuel gets old, and loses its combustion abilities. I happened to me, (same story) solved the problem by cleaning out the tank and putting new fuel in. Disconnect the fuel line and try starting the engine by connecting a small container with fuel in it. If it still does not start, check for spark. |
