Post subject: | Oil For 225 Slant Six |
I know this is going to sound like an absolute terrible newbie question. But, I am. I haven't owned a classic since they became classics. The last time I owned a slant six was in the 1980s. Anyway, can I use full or partial synthetic oil in my 225 slant six? What oil is everyone else using? |

I use full synthetic and it stays cleaner looking longer, and I change it about 3k or so miles. Richard |

Fopar is right on- 5W-30 synthetic if you can afford it. |

This topic has been much discussed on here, but I have used synthetic oil since high school. I only use it once the engine is broken in, but never on a high mileage engine that ran on conventional oil. Did that once and it leaked like crazy. It washed away the goo that had been sealing it up. |

Definitely. If the engine is a high miler, just run conventional oil. For Oregon 5w30 or 10w30 should be just fine...if it's a road oiler you can go to 10w40, but you will be looking to getting the engine rebuilt sooner than later.... |
