I have a distributor with the tag #3874795. Does anyone have a list of part numbers? I can't find anything on the web. Thanks in advance. |

I believe tyhat is for a 1976 only Feather Duster or Dart Lite application. See here: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ht=3874795 |

That make sense. This distributor came out of a spare engine I bought locally that was supposed to be an FD engine. I guess it is.

Contact Dusteridiot on this site. He is the resident distributor guru and in the past he has expressed interest in purchasing unwanted Feather Duster distributors. If you ask nicely, he sometimes can be persuaded to custom build you a distributor with an advance curve to match your engine and vehicle application, for a very reasonable fee. |

And Reed wins the 64 cent question! If it's all original, I would put it in a plastic bag and store in a nice safe place as a spare for your Feather Duster in case yours gives up the ghost in one way or another... I used to have 3 of these now I only have 1 in case I decide to put one of my feather dusters back to OEM condition.... |

If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between it and other /6 distributors?

Quote: If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between it and other /6 distributors?
The curve is not like the normal distributors (like the "598" Federal 1976 distributor)....It was curved for a lot of advance almost all the time. Mostly from the vacuum advance which pretty much give 22 degrees of advance off idle, and the mechanical advance fall in bumping it up more, and you also are setting at 12BTDC initial... (so off idle you are already at 34 init + vacc, and then the mechanical advance.... if really booking down the highway or just leaving it in 3rd not OD you could be up to 60-66 degrees at 3-4000 rpm.. where 'normal' slant curves prefer no more than 50-54 degrees)... To combat ping in these cars, an EGR with a generous orifice was used along with a lot of vacuum spaghetti to the temp sensors... you will also note that the Holley 1945 was calibrated specially and if equipped with a manual transmission it has an electrical solenoid stop. If your vacuum can on these is tanked, a Standard Motor Products VC-208 is a direct replacement... be careful, as they don't have much adjustment, and I hear some of the latest ones don't have the 11R arm any more which is not correct. |

The reason I asked is because when I did the HEI conversion on my W100, I bought a re-man from Autozone. I expected it to need a recurve and it does. I considered put in the one out of the spare engine but that doesn't look like a good idea now. I guess I will recurve the reman distributor and call it good. P.S. I also have the carb and EGR valve on the spare engine. |

Put them in a safe place for storage, they are a one off set of parts for specifically for these mileage cars.
