Old habits are hard to stop . Ok lets see if I can make a question . I've had plenty of stick auto's - a flavor of all variety's . The slant is different it's like a " Just Do It " kinda attitude My way of working the clutch is a feel of the motors mood at the moment & to regulate the clutch as needed for a smooth execution . That situation on a hill can require more peddle regulating . Are my attempts to keep a smooth non jerking ride that a baby could keep sleeping actually going to cause premature clutch wear . Cause lately I'm thinking the nature of this truck might be JUST pop it and let that dang couch peddle up & deal with an abrupt start . Just pop it - gas - and go ........ |

Every stock slant six clutch in a car has been to rev on the gas then let smooth engage out... on hills my size 15 can cover the clutch and brake pedal with right foot on the gas. If having clutch trouble, make sure that the 'dead' space between the pedal at rest and clutch engagement with the pedal depressed is 1"... typically if the spring is original it loses it's elasticity and needs to be replaced.. sometimes it won't allow for a smooth clutch to acc pedal engagement and will jerk... that's when checking the adjustment and checking for pedal hang up is required... If you ride the clutch (this is called "slipping" the clutch because it's partially engaged), it will wear the clutch more than normal engagement... |
