For my race car. Is there any reason not to just do away with the kick down cable all together and just fasten the kick down lever fully rearward? I shift manually all the time anyway. Just figure I am installing another throttle cable and why not just eliminate this if it causes no problems. The car has a standard valve body it. Rick |

Yes, you can do that. It will shift really high and hard if it is in drive. I have wired mine almost all the way back so it is not so high RPM and violent when driving around normally. Why not keep the kickdown cable you have already? Lou |

Rick; Might I suggest you rig up a way to add a turnbuckle in place of the linkage. You could then adjust the turnbuckle to get shift points at a given RPM, being as it's a dedicated drag car, and doesn't see street duty. If you're using a 904, then there's a round ear/hole forward of the kickdown shaft, right in the transition from bell housing to trans case, on the driver's side, that you should be able to utilize as an anchor point for the turnbuckle. I think Greg made a somewhat adjustable bracket on the Ruster at one time. |
