The Industrial 225 six in a Hobart G-400 Welder has an aluminum data plate
mounted to a steel plate by the number 1 plug.

From the tag info:

Model Type Serial
H225- 605 E111898

can anyone tell me what year it was built? From the parts characteristics,
I've narrowed it down to 1970 - 1974. Does the first 1 in the serial mean
1971 or is the "E" the date code? Thanks.

Sounds like a cool find - I'd check the casting numbers on the block as well; decoding these is a bit better documented.

Thanks Matt

I found the Mystery Engine Casting Number thread

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ing+number

I'll scrape the crud off the manifold side of the block and take a look.

The Hobart Welder site pinpointed the generator assembly date to
April 17, 1971 so it should pre-date that.
