On my V8 dodges I use this Moroso valve cover gasket:

Is there an equivalent for the slant? I really like the ones for the V8 like that, despite the price.

No, unfortunately not. Use a good quality rubber gasket (Fel-Pro VS-12680R). There is a silicone gasket offered by an outfit claiming they make "real gaskets" -- these don't offer any advantage and they tend to fail when exposed to oil.

That's what I use, and they last quite a few cover removals for lash setting... the key is to make sure to clean the lip on the head so the gasket seals properly....

Yea that is a good gasket. Be careful, it is not easy to find. Most places only sell the cork version which is the same part number, only lacking the R at the end.

The only place I could find the R version was Pep Boys, and they actually had it in stock for $9.

Well I had a rude awakening with my new to me 66 B-Cuda slant-6. I knew it had a newer engine in it but I didn't know what year.
The valve cover was leaking real bad. So I got hold of a few gaskets, and cleaned up all the involved parts. I even painted the valve cover. I went to put it all back together, and none of my gaskets would fit. Seems mine are all for 1960-1980 slants-6s. But in the process of cleaning the oil off the side of the block, I found the engine I.D. It reads "H 225 8 8 81", so I take it this is an 81 block, and it takes a different valve cover gasket. You learn something new every day. So I had to order a gasket for an 81. I even took the cover in with me so we could make sure it was the same as the pics.
I havn't found a difference in the oil pan gaskets so I am hoping they are the same, thru the years. Is their any tricks, or things to watch out for changing the oil pan gaskets.
Reason I'm changing these gasket is everything on this engine is LOOSE,and leaking. Real bad job of some ones mechanical work (?). I;m going to clean it up as best I can after the gaskets. Tranny pan is loose also.

I just finished bypassing wires, and repairing wires in the bulk head connector, so now it stays running, but leaks.
