74 225 all stock

Dead miss in # 1 cylinder
What I have done:

Adjusted valves, again
Replaced plug
Replaced wire
It is getting spark
Checked for vacuum leaks around manifold
Carb rebuilt about a year ago

Valves all looked OK when I had head off. 60k on engine

All thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Do not want to pull head off again. Broke bolt off and had to pull it about a year ago.

The only other odd thing, which may just be normal for these engines, is that my PCV makes a lot of noise. Yes, I replaced it. Still same noise.

Thank you in advance

Does № 1 always misfire, or only sometimes?

At idle I believe all of the time. When you pull the wire there is no change in idle.

At higher RPM it is tough to tell. I guess I should pull wire and take it for a drive and see if I can tell a difference.

I think my answer is all of the time. It is always #1 missing. It does not move around.

Have you done a compression test?

On our family Darts #1 always runs cooler then the others and #1 spark plug is usually the one to load up first with carbon & gunk, indicating a cold running cylinder. Could be a valve/guide sticking on that #1? If that valve & guide are worn, you might have excess oil burning (coking) on the valve stem and intermittently sticking, especially when the engine is just starting to warm up. Probably OK when fully warm? Sometimes if you find one cylinder running cooler, you can use an alternate spark plug with a higher heat range: that is, use a "hotter" plug to help burn the gunk better. Maybe someone here could point you toward that part number higher heat range plug? My 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies

Put a tank of shell premium in it and the miss went away

Not going to question it

Just going to drive it

This car is going to drive me nuts......"
