I have searched, and looked over the sight, but come up empty. Where i can I find the chart, or info, on IDing a engine block. I bought an 1966 Barracuda, with a slant 6. It is not the original engine. The numbers stamped into the block buy the alternator are H 225 8 8 81. Is this an 1981, or a 1972, I am stumped. Thanks barracudadave67 |

I think it is, It dosnt clack like my mechanical lifter 273. I'd just like to know what year it is. I know it takes the later model valve cover gaskets. Thanks for your reply. barracudadave67 |

H: 1972 model year 225: displacement 8 8: Engine built on August 8, 1972 81: Could also be B1. Shift number, line number, other number not useful for engine ID once it leaves the factory. |

Thanks Dan, and coconut Here are a couple of pics of engine, and rats nest wiring before I did somebulk head bypassses, to keep it running. The valve cover reminds me of late 80s o mid 90s valve covers, with the 008 decal you can make out under all the oil. I have since removed it, installed new gaskets, and repainted it.I put in 1 3/4 in studs with locknuts, and better washers, along with anew fuel line. Carb kit is next. Got rid of all the crimp splices in the rats nest also. Well I cant see how to add the pics so we'll have to leave them out, I guess. barracudadave67 |

It does appear that you have a later model head on that 1972 block. |
