Chrysler P/N for the big upper O-ring which lives just under the hold-down plate in the block bevel is 2095 740, discontinued, and the inner diameter is 1.068". Buna-N or Viton are appropriate materials. Find it around as a "size 121 round O-ring", such as here (a hundred of them for under ten bucks) or here (one for 35¢, but shipping will probably make it more worthwhile getting the 100-pack, then when the end of the world comes you'll be prepared).

Chrysler P/N for the small lower O-ring which lives in the groove in the distributor shank is 2095 630, discontinued, and the inner diameter is 0.920". It is a size 021 square O-ring such as findable here or here, though it's been long enough since I scrutinized one of these that my recollection of them as square-section could be wrong—they might well start out as round and the outer diameter gets squished flat with pressure, heat, and time. Also possible it's an 020-size ring (outer diameter 1.004") or an 022-size ring (outer diameter 1.129").

These size numbers apply whether you're getting round- or square-section O-rings, so searches are easy. Both O-rings need to be in place and in good condition or yeah, you'll have oil leaks (and increased likelihood of the distributor getting stuck in the block). Make sure there are no chips and chunks of old O-ring stuck in the block recess visible from above after you remove the distributor.

Thanks, Dan. I just ordered a pack of 100, which should get here around Jan 3. If anyone wants 1-3 of them, I can drop them in envelopes and send them out. Party favors for the Slant Six Banquet in March 3 at my house!!

The smaller o-ring website/link was broken, but I'll try again later.

Cheers,

Lou

Lou I was just going to order 100. With Prime shipping it is a great deal. But I'd really only like to have about 20. If you want to sell some just drop me a PM. I'm in no big rush.

Rick

Thanks for the info Dan. We really need to get Dan's post into the FAQ section so it is easy to find in 5 years when I can't find mine! :D :D

Rick,

Thanks for asking. I will save 20 for you. No reason for both of us to have a huge number sitting around! 10-15 for me will probably last me until I die.

Post subject:  Distributor Gasket O Ring Information

Thank you Dan for the Comprehensive List above.

I have ordered my lifetime supply of both upper and lower rings.

I figured I would correct the rings in my '62 Valiant wagon while I had the Passenger side of the moter mostly apart.

The Upper ring was not present - I have found many of the distributors like this.
The lower ring is present but I would hazard a guess it's just along for the ride and no actual sealing is being done after 61 years of service!
