Hi gang, I found a fan off a /6 with 7 blades. My current fan has 4 blades. Which is better? It for a '66 Dart. Thanks, Tom |

I never had a problem with the 4 blade, and I know they where factory engineered to work with the slants cooling, but I still like the 7 blade. A clutch fan with a seven blade is even better. ![]() |

You can always say you have a "HEMI" fan on your \6! |

If it is a solid fan rather than a clutch unit, you only have 4 blades to worry about cutting you when water pump time comes, instead of 7. Only a little over 1/2 as deadly! I know, I go get my stitches out of my hand Mon. ,7/14. Just kidding, not about the stitches, but the other part, yes I know that has nothing to do with airflow potential. BUT IT HURT WHEN THEY STUCK THAT NEEDLE IN THERE!! |

Where can you get a 7 blade clutch fan new (or from what vehicles at a boneyard)?

Measure the clearance between your water pump and radiator before you buy that clutch fan. My '64 Valiant does not have enough room for the clutch fan to clear. |

You can get a clutch fan from a huge selection of stuff, especially stuff bigger than A bodies, and newer than A bodies. They should be dirt cheap, as so many barges and midsized cars came with them. |

To be honest, I don't know what the fan came out of. It was in a junked pick up box in my sister and laws neighbors drive way (dont ask, the neighbors where evected) and just looked like it would fit, which it did. I got a different clutch unit when the original frooze up off a mid'80's 5 Avenue, (whos fan didn't fit). Just break out the tape measure and go hunting! |
