It seems like a great way to have both economy and airflow. They were installed on 318s so it would seem a well built 225 might do as well with one as a holley 390... I have no actual experience with ether, I am just putting thoughts together that do not belong in the same room.. |

I haven't tried it, but I have always thought a Spreadbore carb should work nice on a warmed slant with some tuning required, but I was thinking Q-jet. |

Frank Raso used to advocate the Q-jet, and there was a member who managed to carefully saw a Thermoquad in half and run it as a spreadbore two barrel. Somewhere I have pictures of that. |

You'd have to get a Q-jet or Holey 4360 to bat in the 400-500 cfm range... the standard mopar T-quads are big and anything but a built slant would be able to use the 700+ cfm big block units... |

I'm happy with the Q-Jet on my car and I like it better than the AFB I had on it previously. I have it turned 90° like I had the AFB. It gets better fuel economy than the BBS too. Quadrajet Upgrade |

Keep in mind that Quadrajet and Thermoquad carburetors are obsolete and tuning parts can sometimes be a challenge to acquire. Luckily for me, all I needed for tuning my Q-Jet was some primary jets. I have my carb facing the driver-side fender. My reasoning for this this that the carburetor will operating for the vast majority of time with the secondaries closed and I wanted the primaries to be as equidistant as possible to all cylinders. Write-ups here: Quadrajet Conversion Quadrajet Tuning I overlooked the link you provided in your earlier post. Your write-up on tuning the quadra-jet is detailed and easy to follow. More than enough info here to get me in well over my head... Thank you! |
