Currently I run 205/70 R14 BF Goodrich Radial TA mounted on SBP Rallye Wheels on the Dart; it is 25.4" tall. Plan is to go to 15" rim 5x4 1/2" bolt pattern, Factory look Ralley wheel decked out with cap and trim ring which comes in around 210 bucks each. Or something in a cast wheel that looks vintage at a lower cost if such an item exists. 15" rim will allow bigger after market brakes to fit. What is the widest tire and back set that will easily fit under a stock ride height 1967 Dart and still turn left and right without rubbing? |

Not an answer to your question, but since you're talking about substantial wheel/tire upgrades, you may want to pay some careful attention to the idler arm mount. Bigger wheels/tires = more stress on that area. I'm not an expert on the '67-only idler arm setup, but you may want to look into/ask after upgrades (later-year parts? Ball bearing conversion? Mount reinforcements?). |

If you want "easily" then I would probably go for 215/60-15 on a 15X7 rim with 4.25 or 4.5" backspacing. You can go as big as 245s on an 8" rim, but it will be harder to design/buy/fit/adjust for no rubbing. It will really depend on what size tire is available these days in what types. I usually go to Tirerack.com and type in a tire size and see how many types are available. If < 5 or so types available, then pick another size. Happy to discuss more. Lou |

I have run 225 70 14's all the way around on my 69 but they are still on a 14" Rim. Getting harder to find those now reasonably. Greg |

I have run 225/70R14 and 225/65R15 rear tires on my 1969 and 1975 Darts without any problem at all. The 15" wheels are 15"x7" steel wheels with a 4.5" back spacing. I also run 15" Weld wheels on the 1969 Dart that are 15"x7" with a 4.5" backspacing and a 9" Hoosier slick. All of the tires I listed here fit without any modifications to the lift spring/perch or the quarter panel wheel lip. |

That shouldn't be a problem, I replaced that one year idler arm flopping mess attachment method with a typical A Body idler arm mount sourced from the Doc him self. Yeah, I'm driving a non numbers matching Frankensteinien hybrid... Looks stock on top, but underneath is a monster. LOLThanks for the tire/wheel info gentlemen. |
