The folks at Clay City are super easy to work with.

They’ll let us run 1/4 or 1/8 mile for our races. It seemed like a popular option for folks to have both last year. Can I assume that we should plan for that again for the big Racer’s Reunion?

We can do 1/4 one day and 1/8 the other. Any preferences on that from y’all?

If there are some real Grudge matches brewing I can also ask for them to let us squeeze those in.

It would be great to do a Fast Four like back in the day as well.

The racing season will be starting soon and I plan to make a couple trips to Clay City to get some face to face coordination going. Hopefully I’ll be able to get Bobby Rogers on board for the 20 year reunion of that “Magic Moment”.

I want to make this is event as close as I can to “The Good Old Days” and would appreciate any and all input.

I like 1/4 mile but would be Ok if some folks want 1/8 one day especially for those who may be trying for a record. I would prefer our big payout on day one of racing and have it 1/4 mile. One man's opinion.

Rick

PS, If we have a big turnout, like it looks like we could, will they allow us to save some parking so all 30+ of us can get into the same general parking area? Thanks for all your work Rob!

I'm also in favor of 1/4 mile on Sat for the big money, and 1/8 on Sun. That way every one gets a chance for a record.

That was my thought on the two days as well. I will ask about parking together. They have always let us park under the big trees, but actually “reserving” so many spots may be another thing.

I’ll keep everyone posted.

I prefer 1/4 mile on Saturday, and then either 1/4 or 1/8 on Sunday. I liked doing the 1/8 on Sunday last year, actually...

If you have a 1/4 mile track why not use it. Just my opinion.

I am open to either.
of course with Bristol not being on the schedule this year there will be 2 less 1/4 Mile races, if that makes any difference.

If you do 1/8 mile make sure that the slant 6 time trials are also 1/8 mile to give anyone trying to set a record more chances. 1/8 mile splits on 1/4 mile time slips don't count. Clay City usually runs Pro and Super Pro on the 1/8 mile so if you really want a lot of chances at an 1/8 mile record also enter one of those classes.

Good point, Seymour. I think we should do 1/8th on Sunday. This will encourage more record setting, and there might be a bunch that weekend. It would be cool to have the biggest Slant race ever with the most number of records set in one weekend...
