I have a 67 dart 2 door hardtop. The windshield and rear glass are the same as 68 to 76 I believe. But, the rear quarter glass and door glass are different (I think the vent glass is the same). For example the rear quarter glass has two mounting holes and is not straight along the bottom edge, while my '67 has no holes and is straight along the bottom edge. Door glass in my '67 has a single mounting hole on the bottom, and no holes on the front edge (that I can see, it's still in the car), while the 68 glass has two mounting holes on the bottom and two small holes on the front edge. I found a nice set of tinted '68 2 door hardtop glass. What is different in the mounting hardware, is it just a different support bar and the rest of the crank mechanism is the same, or would I need the '68 door and rear quarter crank mechanisms as well? Anyone have pics of the mechanism for the '68 crank mechanisms how the glass mounts? '68 FSM pics? Also in '68 they moved the door lock button forward, so does the '67 door lock mechanism interfere with '68 door glass mechanism? thanks, Brian |

OK, well after some study, it looks like (this is my assumption) that mopar changed the mounting design of the quarter window and door glass for improvements. On the quarter glass, they made the glass mount to the lifting mechanism as the older glass can come loose over time and cause problems. On the door glass, my '67 mounts to the lift mechanism at the front, so there is much more torque on the glass when lifting. The '68 onward they moved the mount toward the center of the glass so the upward force would be more balanced and likely easier to roll the window up, less issues. I found regulators, the only thing I need is the chrome channel/trim that goes on the front of the quarter glass. That is different as well. The '67 is permanently affixed to the lift mechanism, the '68 onward is affixed only to the quarter glass. I suppose I can cut mine loose from the '67 bracket and use it, but if anyone has '68 onward pieces (one for each quarter glass), please pm me and I'll pay a fair price. Brian |

Makes me wonder if anyone's ever put together a canonical list of all the one-year-only '67 A-body parts. Such a list might rival the list of differences between the '60-'61 and the '62 Valiant/Lancer cars. Off the top of my head (excluding purely cosmetic stuff like grills, trim, lights, emblems, etc and new-for-'68 legally-required stuff like head restraints, shoulder belts, and sidemarker lights): Pitman arm Idler arm K-frame Windshield gasket and lockstrip Backglass gasket and lockstrip Side glass Side glass regulators Side glass chrome ... |

Good point, Dan, perhaps a sticky on that would be helpful. Note: my '67 dart 2dr hardtop had '68 onward style rear glass and gasket, no lock strip, I think that's just the front glass on a '67. Also there is the parking lights don't light up when the headlights are on wiring scheme. Cosmetic interior differences: Slight difference in the dash pad from '67 to '68 onward ('67 has an extra contour). '67 door handles are different than '68 onward. '67 radio bezel has curved contour around radio knobs, while '68 - '69 are squared corners b |

Other differences. In '68 they moved the door lock shaft forward, so that it is easier to reach from the seated position, also, i believe the armrest brackets are different from '67 and '68 onward. |

Taking a closer look at my '67 door glass, the lift mechanism is the same as '68 onward ( the quarter glass is different as I showed in the pics). It was a weird optical illusion, when I peeked down through the cat whisker stuff into my '67 door it appeared to be a long way forward to where the glass mounts to the regulator, but it was in fact near the front/center as in '68 glass. My bad, sorry for any confusion...old eyes. I got some '71 doors with glass anyway, the vent window hardware is in way better shape than my '67, so I'll use that. The doors, though look much newer, are in far worse shape than my '67 doors. When I pulled the glass and hardware out, I found that the doors had putty in them, the door handle area was dented in (somebody dropped the door on the handle I suppose) the remote mirror on the drivers side was pulled out (the metal all twisted). I'll use my '67 doors with the '68 tinted glass. brian |
