| Post subject: | headlight switch pigtail connector |
I have a '67 dodge dart and the pigtail connector for the headlight switch is destroyed. I rewired the switch with 1/4" female blade connections, but I was wondering about where to get the pigtail. I noticed some late model switches look like they have the same blade pattern (different connectivity) but the pigtail looks similar. Is it the same pigtail? Otherwise, where does one get one of these pigtails? Jim's has it for like a bajillion dollars, but... brian |

Let me rephrase that a bit. My dart has the 7 blade headlight switch, so the switch is the Standard Motor Products DS-165T. Is there a commercially available pigtail for that switch that isn't $100 from Jim's Auto? brian |

If you can possibly avoid it, do not buy T-suffix ("Tru-Tech") parts from Standard. That's their cheapest, nastiest junk. DS-165 is their less-pathetic switch, and is the one to buy if you can't wait for a good American-made item from Old Car Parts Northwest. As for the connector: it's available in good heavy-duty quality, mis-listed as a "headlight switch"—without a photo, so here's that image:

FYI, as you can see from the picture above, that connector has 9 wires, and my '67 headlight switch only requires 7. BUT it is easily modified by razoring off the black and blue sockets and it fits the switch perfectly (and it was waaay cheaper than the $100 one at Jim's Auto).
