Hello,
I have just removed the exhaust pipe for mocking up a "J" pipe for a turbo installation. I noticed that the threads which appear to be 7/16"-14 are in really poor condition, should probably be replaced. Now would be the right time to do so. Any thoughts on how to easily remove them from the exhaust manifold? Should i run the engine and let them heat up, or remove the manifold to the bench and apply heat with a torch? Brute force with a vise grips? Cut, drill and tap?
Looks like it wont be lots of fun.
I did a search but could not find this addressed specifically.

I would try heating up the engine first, or heat with a torch if they seem to be really stuck. Often they are not as stuck as in other rust situations, maybe due to the cast iron material of the manifold meeting the steel of the bolt and maybe some loss of iron from the threads??
