I'm thinking about replacing my 1980 Volare's stock Slant Six exhaust with a set of headers. Aussiespeed told me their standard headers will probably fit but they gave no guarantee that they would fit in a Volare with air conditioning. The compressor sits pretty much in the center of the engine bay--I measured about 5 inches from where the stock exhaust for #1 bolts in to the body of the compressor. Has anyone here tried to fit the Aussiespeed headers in a similar car? Would be great to hear if/how it worked out. It looks like the Clifford headers will fit because the #1 tube goes immediately down--but reading this board has me concerned about doing any business there. Thanks in advance! |

I have two sets of new Clifford "shorties" for sale, among other parts. Only one set of the shorties listed. See this post. http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=62140 PM if interested. |

Many folks on this board and across the slant six universe use Clifford headers. They work fine. The bad reputation that Clifford has is due mainly to thier camshaft packages as for a while they were selling hydraulic and mechanical cams as interchangeable. There is nothing functionally wrong with the Clifford headers. With that being said, I don’t know if the Clifford’s will fit your specific car. |

Clifford shorties should fit fine, although w/power steering they might require a little tweaking? Aussiespeed are also supposed to fit that car. Lou |

When I got the 67 Dart its power steering adjusting nut atop of gear contacted Clifford header. Someone had hammered a flat spot in #1 runner to clear gear, but it was making contact when in reverse while idling with brake on. New engine mounts both sides, and 1/4" shim under driver's side mount solved the problem with room to spare. I don't know how much difference there is between 67 A body, and later renditions of that engine bay architecture there is. I suspect it can't be too different to accept the long unchanged drive train. |

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss SSDan chiming in about headers on a slant? |
