It is that time again. Wilkesboro (Little Thunder Valley) is ready for a Slant Six invasion. I talked with Phil today and everything is set.
We will be able to enter the track around 5:00 to 5:30 on Friday. We will run 2 races Friday night. The entry will be $30.00 total at the gate for both races. Spectator will be extra. After entering the gate I will take up $10.00 per racer to help cover Banquet expenses. We will have time to run some test runs before our race starts and we will draw a ladder after everyone has made some runs. After the first race we will be able to run at least one test run before the second race.
Camping at the track is welcome.

Saturday we will display our cars at Tim Harrolds EMPIRE Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealer. We will meet there around 9:00 AM. We will have some breakfast food there at the Dealership. We will begin pulling out around 11:30 and head to the track. Entry fee will be $20.00 for Saturdays race. Time or test runs will begin around 2:00 PM. We should have plenty of time to get in 2 to 3 or possibly more passed before racing starts. We will have food and snacks for everyone Saturday afternoon and evening at the track.

This is he 19th Slant Six race Tim Harrold has sponsored us making him the largest contributor by far to support Slant Six racing since the series began. The 21st is Tim's Birthday therefore he may be out of town on Saturday. It would be nice if many of us could thank him for his generosity over the years. Maybe by text or on Facebook.

Here is the roll call as I know it right now

Ron Hamby
Kay Hamby (or another driver if possible It would make Kay happy)
Dale Hamby
Rob Simmons
Gary Bruner
Matthew Rhodes
Norm Foster
Ryan Covalt
Rick Covalt
John Metelko
Lou Madsen
Brian Mimken?
Meril Bruner?
Jack Everhardt Jr.
Jack Everhardt III
Mile Andreas ?
Rodney Hargus?
Mark Charapich
Tim Charapich?
Taylor Andreas?
Please let me know if I left anyone out or if you can confirm the question marks

Thanks Ron

There will be test n tune at Wilkesboro on Thursday night the day before our Friday race if anyone needs extra testing. Also there is no helmet required on our slower cars. If anyone cares to camp at the track it is ok as well. We are looking forward to seeing a lot of racers. It will be coming up in just over a week! :D

Just made a hotel reservation at the Wilksboro Hampton Inn,
Wife Miriam is traveling with me to this slant six race, she wants to
see what this is all about. Will be fun.

Working on a new motor for the 68 Barracuda, but it is not quite ready,
so the car will be much as it was last year at Clay City, with a few
improvements.

We are making the drive over from Indy on Thursday, so I may not do the
T&T that evening, but plan to be at Wilksboro Dragway Friday and Saturday.

I won’t be able to make the test & tune Thursday, but plan to be there Friday. I suppose I should make a reservation somewhere... :|

I’ll try to give you a good race Rick. You’ve already put me on the trailer once this year, ya big bully!

Ron,

Sorry that I won't be making it this year. I can't get out of work that weekend, and am unable to get anyone to swap days with me.

Good luck to everyone!

Brian

a couple of questions:

1) concerning the make up race on Friday,, I was not at the rained out MD event,
will I be able to participate in that race? I am OK either way, just asking.

2) do the slant six racers all park in the same area at the track, if so where?

3) what is the start and end time for the the Test and Tune on Thursday, If I get
in the area at a decent hour I will go to the track.

4) Is the track secure where I can leave the car - trailer at the track or should I tow it back to the
Hampton each evening.

5) The Empire show sounds like fun, is there room at the dealership lot to park a trailer and unload or
do I need to find space to do that.

thanks

2) We almost always park on the left side of the track (from start line) up high on the hill where the return roads (high and low) intersect.

4) Yes, secure. Most people leave stuff there overnight.

5) Show is in front of the main showroom (western lot), and you can park and unload trailers at the eastern lot across the little side street.

See you soon!

Lou
