Greetings everyone! I have a 1960 Plymouth Valiant originally owned when new by my great grandmother. Last year my dad passed, the car is in my parent's garage (a couple hours from where I live) my mom is keeping, I've been keeping it running every so often until I saw that there was a gas leak on the carburetor. Looking for some guidance on what I'm likely going to need to do. I'm experienced mostly working on '55 Ford/Mercury cars and it took some searching around for me to figure out that it appears I've got the Carter carb, my guess is I should pick up a carb rebuild kit. Fuel seems flood from the bowl ventilation. I assume the needle valve is gone. It was several decades ago when I have tuned a BBS. Thinking that the needle can be removed for inspection without opening the carburetor. Just disconnect the fuel tube and remove the brass part from the carb. Needle is behind that part. Anyway it has to be opened if you replace the needle as the float level has to be adjusted... |

The fiber gaskets ooze gas there. I use copper smeared with hylomar. |
